Develop a positive mindset for volleyball tryouts

School tryouts have come and gone! When going into tryouts for your school volleyball team remember everything you have learned at ACES! Have confidence in yourself and in your skills. Show how compatible you are with your fellow team members. Show that you can lead the court to victories!

When trying out for anything new, remember who you are, stay true to yourself, be a team player, and communicate! It can be stressful to have tryouts the week before school, the first week of school, or the 2nd week of school. Remain calm and try your hardest! Let your talent shine and speak for itself! 

Try new things as well. At this age don’t just stick to hitting, passing, or setting! Try all of the positions and see what you are the most comfortable with. You never know what you're capable of until you try it and allow yourself to blossom! If you have already found your position then stick with it and nail it down before ACES club season!! 

If you truly love the sport be willing to go through the ups and downs.

Unfortunately some will not make the school team. It will hurt but after tears and disappointment, get back to the gym. Ask coaches for feedback and be diligent this next year in your training. Don't be too hard on yourself at times. Not making the team doesn't necessarily mean you are not good enough. If you truly love the sport be willing to go through the ups and downs. You are young and only time will tell how far you will go. If you enjoy the sport stick with!
